With more than 25 years of teaching experience and participation in more than 100 clinical studies, Jerome L. Shupack, M.D., is a leading expert on such skin problems as psoriasis and dermatitis. Dr. Shupack is also the director of the Dermatopharmacology Section in the Department of Dermatology at New York University Medical Center.
Dr. Shupack is a member of many clinical committees and is affiliated with numerous professional societies, such as the prestigious American Academy of Pharmaceutical Physicians, New York Academy of Sciences, the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery and the Hair Research Society. He is also affiliated with such groups as the Society for Investigative Dermatology, the International Society of Tropical Dermatology, Medical Society of the State of New York, Dermatologic Society of Greater New York, American Medical Association, New York Dermatological Society, Skin Pharmacology Society and the American Society of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics.
Dr. Shupack has written more than 75 original reports and is the author of dozens of published abstracts, chapters, letters and posters, as well as a book, Dermatologic Formulary, Skin and Cancer Unit, which was published in 1989. He is also a consultant to Combe Incorporated, maker of Scalpicin® and Lanacane® anti-itch medications.
Dr. Shupack earned his medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1963, and completed his internship and residencies at Mt. Sinai Hospital and NYU. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology and the Board of Medical Examiners.

Pennisi, Ph.D., is always looking out for the consumer. With more than 22 years in the field of toxicology and consumer products, Dr. Pennisi is responsible for the safety of all Combe products. He also recommends proper usage instructions that help ensure safe consumer use.
As a medical expert, Dr. Pennisi has developed well-respected opinions for why over-the-counter (OTC) topical drugs are safe and effective, based on pharmacological and scientific principles. Together with doctors in the fields of toxicology, dermatology, obstetrics, gynecology, dentistry, podiatry and endocrinology, he is continually working to improve the products used by consumers everyday.
Dr. Pennisi, a Diplomate of the American Board of Toxicology, is affiliated with such prestigious groups as the Society of Toxicology, the American Society for Photobiology, the American College of Toxicology, the American Academy of Dermatology, the Regulatory Affairs Professional Society, the Cosmetics, Toiletries and Fragrance Association, the Chemical Specialties Manufacturers Association and the American Pet Products Manufacturers Association.
Having published more than nine articles in reputable scientific journals, such as Food and Chemical Toxicology, Skin Pharmacology and The American Society of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, Dr. Pennisi is a well-respected member of the scientific community.
Dr. Pennisi shares his expertise in the field of toxicology with his students during graduate classes he teaches at New York Medical College in Valhalla, N.Y., for the past nine years. He also taught graduate level courses in toxicology at St. John's University. For 15 years, Dr. Pennisi has been a consultant to various laboratories, helping to improve testing standards and developing patents for consumer products.
Upon graduating college in 1972, Dr. Pennisi traveled to Italy where he studied at the University of Bologna School of Medicine and Surgery for two years. He received an MS degree in 1977 in Toxicology from St. John's University and took a job as Program Manager in the Department of Toxicology at Avon Products. During his employment at Avon, he also received his Ph.D. in Pharmacology and Toxicology at St. John's University. After more than 15 years with Avon, Dr. Pennisi joined Combe Incorporated as Director of Toxicology and Clinical Science for all of the Company's products.
With his vast knowledge of skin and the factors that cause irritation, Dr. Pennisi is a recognized source in his field. He has been quoted in various national magazines, on television and on radio.
